ANOTHER WAY OF TREATING E-COLI

Escherichia coli (E. coli) is a group of gram-negative bacteria that normally reside in the intestine of healthy people, but some strains can cause infection in the digestive tract, urinary tract, or many other parts of the body.

Please to know more about this infection.

Anomaly is a male genitourinary tract account for up to 15% of cases of male infertility. Acute and chronic infections and consequent inflammation in the male reproductive system may compromise the sperm cell function and the whole spermatogenetic process, causing qualitative and quantitative sperm alterations. Recent studies have shown that the simple presence of bacteria in semen samples may compromise sperm quality. The bacteria responsible for semen contaminations generally originate from the urinary tract of patients or can be transmitted by the partner via sexual intercourse.

The most frequently isolated microorganism in male patients with genital tract infections or semen contamination is Escherichia coli. The negative influence of this species on sperm quality is partially due to its effect on motility and to the impaired acrosomal function, as demonstrated at the ultrastructural level by Diemer et al.

EFFECT OF E-COLIS ON SPERM

The direct effect of E-coli on sperm was proved through in vitro studies done by directly incubating both cells. It has been shown by several authors that E. coli coming into with spermatozoa causes decreased sperm mobility. The decrease in sperm mobility due to E-coli has been attributed for many years to an agglutination effect on sperm. Sperm agglutination can be caused by bacterial.

TREATMENT OF E-COLIS

Coli infections, usually bladder or other urinary tract infections, are treated with antibiotics, such as trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole, nitrofurantoin, or fluoroquinolone. However, many bacteria, particularly those acquired in a health care facility, are resistant to some antibiotics.
