Utilization

 

This plant enjoys a good reputation in traditional medicine, especially in the Sudanese region. The bark and leaves in maceration are prescribed for pregnant women during the period of gestation. Internally, the bark is used in hemorrhoids. The leaves in decoction or powder lower blood pressure and blood sugar.

Description

It is an erect shrub 2 to 3 meters in height with many branches starting from the base. The simple, alternate leaves are supported by a pubescent petiole. The flowers are white or pink-streaked with mauve. The fruits are pods containing two round seeds.
